Initial Thoughts

It looks AWESOME and I love seeing my efforts solidified in front of me! There is already a big list of minor tweaks that I want to do to the final files now that I have a sample copy in my hand. I am aiming to get all of these files in to the manufacturers by mid next week!

Thanks for all the support and patience so far, you peeps are the best :D

Good at Proofreading?

I would love to take this before I pull the trigger on the final manufacturing to borrow your eyes to improve the rulebook. There are a few things that still need to be changed (Backer Names + Video for QR code) however I would be super appreciative if you took a small chunk of your day to read/look through the rulebook and look for improvements/text changes that I might want to consider!

If you have any thoughts or comments, please send me a message or post it on the Kickstarter wall!

Our artist Daniel finally has a website!!!

I have been on his back about this one for a long time now but his portfolio website is finally up and running... about time :D Head on over to check out some of his other illustrations and video game creations. I highly recommend his tumblr for some sketchy goodness.

Sampling has begun!

Are we on schedule?

We have been working hard to complete and submit the sampling files to our manufacturer and I am glad to say that they have been submitted! With the files going in on March, we are currently on schedule with what we estimated prior to the Kickstarter!

24 Illustrations

With all the illustrations done, the illustrations are slowly being revealed on Instagram. Join us there as we reveal them one by one :D I want to thank all the art directors that came up with some great descriptions for Daniel to illustrate!

The box cover image has also been selected and we decided on a new and improved windmill illustration with an extended background.

As it takes around a month for a sample copy to be made + shipped to me, I will changing my focus on the Outer Earth posters and space cows so stay tuned for some update on those.

DFWNN Competition

In my last update I talked about the DFW Nerd Night design competition and in the end I submitted a game named Classy Couriers! The game is for 2 - 4 players where each player controls a bicycle courier trying to maximize their job orders and profits! It is currently being judged but if you are interested in the game, check out the how to play video!

Outer Earth - Artwork, Instagram and more!

Backerkit Surveys

The survey has been out for a month now and I am glad to say that we have gotten all the currently vital backers (Art Directors) in with their illustration descriptions. Currently 87% of the Kickstarter backers have done their surveys and I will re-send the BackerKit invitation (today) to the remaining 13% to complete!

If you have not done your BackerKit survey yet, please check your email!

Artwork + Manufacturing

Daniel is chugging along with the artwork and it is looking FABULOUS! Here are four new illustrations that were recently completed.

These were made with the help of our Art Directors pledges!
These were made with the help of our Art Directors pledges!

We are aiming to send in all the card files + a big chunk of the illustrations in for a sampling* at the end of February. There have also been an improvement in the final manufactured components. We have added 4 unique player colored dice per player (for a total of 16 dice) and a turn order tracker with the feedback from you awesome people :D

*A manufacturing sample is when the manufacturer creates one copy of the game, which is then sent to the creator (the Outer Earth team) for quality verification.

Rulebook

Here is the latest version of the rulebook, which has improved greatly since the Kickstarter campaign. I will be spending the month up until the sampling process fine tuning and improving the rulebook. Give it a read through and let me know what you think, I greatly appreciate it!

Instagram

I try to keep the Kickstarter updates to a maximum of once a month (since I know how spammy some Kickstarters can be), however if you would like to follow more closely with Outer Earth news. Make sure to follow our newly created Instagram account!

DFW Nerd Night

In other news, DFW Nerd Night is hosting a boardgame competition that I am currently a part of. The premise of the competition is really awesome, you are shipped a few components from Panda GM and you have to make a game only with the shipped components!

Take care everyone!

Outer Earth wishes you a happy holiday + BackerKit surveys are out!
almost 10 years ago – Tue, Jan 06, 2015 at 01:22:36 PM

I hope you all are having a wonderful time with friends, family and loved ones :D

Surveys have been sent!

I have created a BackerKit survey which you should have received already. If you haven't seen it in your inbox yet, please check your junk/spam filters. If you cannot find your a BackerKit invitation, sent me a message through Kickstarter and I will verify your email and re-send it.

BackerKit is great because it easily manages things like address change, pledge add-ons and reward organization. If you are having issues with BackerKit or would like to give your information directly to me, please message me and we'll resolve accordingly.

The beginning of 2015 will start off with a bang for us, with the aim to finish all illustrations by February! What this means is that our Art Directors (backers at the $150 pledge level) need to get their surveys in ASAP so we can start the custom illustrations.

Enjoy what's left of 2014, and see you in the new year!

Paul
